Stepping Up

IMG_20180505_123807987Daniel, and his fiancée, Miriam Morris, both took a big step on stage to graduate from Cedarville University on May 5. Daniel received a Computer Science degree (Daniel has two last courses to take online this summer for his degree to be official).  Miriam received a nursing degree, and then passed her RN certification exam as well. They are now focused on their next big step – wedding plans for September 22nd in Ohio. Praise the Lord that both already have jobs in their profession!

A step up to heaven left a hole in our hearts on May 8. Our coworker’s son, and our right hand man in ministry, Jeff Diawa, died as a result of a motorcycle accident. Jeff was our ministry driver, mechanic, and all around helper with all our ministry logistics. We already miss him very much.

Others keep stepping up to move ahead in the work. Vacation Bible School went on without Jeff’s help as driver. 125 children attended VBS this year. Many of our youth point to VBS as the time when they opened their hearts to receive Christ as Savior. It is also the entry point for serving for many of our workers. They are trained to share the gospel, first with children at VBS, then with teens at camp. Then, they learn to witness for Christ in outreaches to the community through Christ Connection, the youth ministry of the church. Several who receive this training then step into further training in the Church Planting Institute. Each opportunity is a new challenge for these faithful workers, but they all move up together, so each is a natural next step in ministry for them.

Our wonderful Savior keeps stepping up to provide for our needs so we can continue to serve Him. We are grateful for each one of you whom He prompts to give toward His work in the Philippines. We covet your prayers for the Filipino workers we help train, who are serving faithfully, and starting new churches.

Note: We just received word that another one of our pastors, Danny de la Cruz, has died unexpectedly. Danny helped start and pastor three churches. For years, he headed one of our theological school training centers as well. He left a wife, Grace, and two children.
