WD-40 is sprayed on rusted bolts and moving parts to loosen, lubricate and make tools like new again. On a spiritual level, the Holy Spirit is doing all of this and more in His churches in the Philippines.
Loosening
We have been burdened for the church in Rosales. Since their pastor died last year, they have felt “stuck” on how to grow their church. Eight of their church leaders came to our CPI (Church Planting Institute) workshop in February, entitled “A Healthy Church is a Growing Church.” As I was teaching, the Holy Spirit showed them a number of “sticking points” in their church that they now see clearly how to improve. With the skills to examine their church for areas of weakness, they can focus on strengthening each weak area, by the power of God’s Spirit.
Lubricating
Workers from three churches met at Malasiqui for training on Evangelism. I taught them the essential parts of the gospel, how to effectively share the gospel, and the role of the Holy Spirit breathing new life into a soul “dead in sin.” The Holy Spirit has given these churches a spirit of unity to work together in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Making New
Just after this training, these workers had a great opportunity to practice what they had just learned. Will Graham (Franklin Graham’s son, Billy Graham’s grandson) held an evangelistic event in Lingayen, just an hour from several of our churches. Forty workers from Mangaldan, Malasiqui, San Jacinto and Rosales churches joined in counseling those whom the Holy Spirit led forward to put their faith in Christ during this two-day event. We rejoice that the believers we have trained are ready to share the gospel. Each of the 5,000+ new believers will be visited by workers from our churches and other churches for further discipleship.
The Holy Spirit is working in the Philippines through your financial support and prayers for us. He is guiding us as we teach, so churches can thrive and grow. Trained believers, by the Spirit, are unified in their commitment to faithfully share the gospel. Through their witness, the Holy Spirit is making souls new again by simple faith in Jesus Christ. Now, He is guiding these new believers into churches where they can learn to love and follow Christ. We are humbled and honored to serve under His guidance, and by His power, through your help. Thank you for letting the Holy Spirit use you!
