The spread of pandemic fear and social unrest cannot prevent the spread of God’s Good News. In spite of the sharp economic downturn that has caused many people to lose their jobs, God has provided thousands of dollars in relief for us to send to churches in the Philippines. As shelter-in-place orders prevent Filipino believers from earning their daily rice, God has heard their prayers, and has provided relief through generous believers in the US.

The van God supplied in February is now being used to deliver rice, noodles, sardines and eggs to church families. Also, as believers offer food to unbelieving neighbors, they share the Good News of Jesus Christ with them. Rice helps them live for a day, but with Christ, the Living Bread, they can live forever.
It is our joy to be the channel through which God’s blessing flows to these Filipino churches. The Apostle Paul said that he knew how to “abound, and to suffer need.” We are experiencing both at the same time. Our personal support dropped even more during this economic downturn, yet God is providing so generously for the needs of the Filipinos we serve. We would gladly spend and be spent to see these believers strengthened in their faith, and to see their churches multiplied.

Our Filipino Bible study in Birmingham switched to meeting online to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Little did we know that this change would allow Filipinos from as far away as Portland, Oregon to join our Bible study! We are blessed by their eagerness to study and obey God’s Word.

By faith, we were preparing a new training workshop to be taught in July. Just before we sent this letter, the church called to cancel the workshop due to COVID-19 concerns. We appreciate your prayers that God will help us to communicate God’s truth simply and memorably by whatever means possible. Please pray that these Filipinos will in turn teach others also.
Thank you for praying with us and supporting our passion to see Christ’s church growing and multiplying among Filipinos as they receive God’s good news. They, and we, are grateful that you keep serving together with us through your financial support and faithful prayers.
