As we celebrate our 30th year working with TEAM in the Philippines, we also celebrate 25 years of God’s faithfulness to the Church Planting Institute (CPI). In 1996, the Gerona church sent us eight young men to join four from Mangaldan for our first CPI class. One of these men is now pastor of the Gerona church. Another went to Estipona to start a church there. These two churches together started the Ramos church. Two others pastor at Tagumbao and San Jose.
Today the leaders of all of our churches are CPI trained. They even send workers from their churches to help other churches that need help. Some pastors bring their own disciples to CPI for us to train so they can start other churches. Others are even leading their own CPI training among churches in their area.
The wisdom of this church planting approach became clear during this world-wide pandemic. Since we are training each disciple within their own church, church planting ministries and our online training have all continued uninterrupted.
As we look to the future, we aim to strengthen local training initiatives. We are asking God to help us train church leaders to develop their own Church Planting Institutes for their area churches. We are committed to “teaching others who are able to train others also” until Christ returns.
Year after year, the palm tree bears its fruit. CPI has become a fruitful tree. God has set you at the root of CPI, providing the resources for growth, by your prayers and financial support. At the tree’s trunk we guide and train God’s servants for ministry (free of charge). God has set these workers as branches, bearing fruit that matures into disciples, and new churches. The Spirit of Christ flows through us all, bringing life and fruitfulness. Thank you for your desire to see Christ’s church multiplied in the Philippines. We praise God for your faithful prayers and support as we train another generation of Filipino church planters.
