Standing on the Word of God

Filipino church planters are discovering that the problems they face are not much different from what the Apostle Paul faced when he wrote to the Galatians. Traditions, religious authorities and popular opinion still try to warp the gospel of grace. The answer is still the Word of God. After one training session in the Church Planting Institute, one pastor said, “I know now what my sermon outline will be this Sunday!” This immediate application in ministry assures us that the teaching will be remembered.
Before I (David) go to the Philippines for the March church planter training workshops, we are excited to be starting the Filipino-American Bible study again in Birmingham. This is being initiated by one who came to faith in Christ through the first Bible study.
Walking With a New Knee

On January 18, after a two-day delay due to icy weather, Joy received a new knee. She was walking and climbing stairs the same day, and then the pain medication wore off! She has been faithfully following doctor and therapist orders, and is making steady progress. Joy’s Mom continues therapy for her injured leg. We are grateful a PET scan showed that Mom’s cancer treatment is helping keep the cancer from progressing.
Running the Race Set Before Us

Joy’s recovery from surgery has not slowed us down in our missionary work. God has provided funds to start building a chapel for squatters living along the railroad tracks in Mangaldan. We lack only $650 for the roof. This week, we are sharing at a mission conference in southern Alabama, and then I preach in Birmingham before going to the Philippines. When I return from the Philippines, we will be speaking at a mission conference in South Carolina. Meetings in NY and another overseas trip are already being planned for June and July. We rejoice to run in step with the Holy Spirit in our calling to train Filipinos, and to support their church multiplication in any way we can. Thank you for standing, walking and running with us! Your faithful prayers and financial support keep us running for Christ!
