What Is a Missionary to the Philippines Doing in Mexico?

“Are you still working in the Philippines?” “What exactly do you do for TEAM?”
Yikes! Wearing two hats can spark a lot of questions!

We have 1 passion: Multiplying workers for God’s harvest worldwide.

But we wear 2 hats that coincide with that passion:
1) Training Filipinos to start new churches in the Philippines, and
2) Mobilizing new missionaries from the US for TEAM’s work worldwide.

As a missions connector, I attend training each year with other missions coaches (Hat #2). This year, training was in Mexico (cheaper!), giving us a chance to see TEAM’s church planting work and ranch.

We also heard from leaders in Chad and Ukraine. Now we know what kind of workers to send their way, and to Mexico. (Do you love horses and people? We need to talk!) Tomorrow, I need to jump back into email conversations with 3 or 4 dozen potential missionaries.

My head is also back in the Philippines this week (Hat #1), working on support solutions for our CPI grads that want to serve in another Asian country. Friday through Sunday we will be in three different meetings with potential partners. We have decided to switch December’s trip to the Philippines to January instead, to take advantage of lower airfares.

Pray for dexterity in switching between hats, and for clarity communicating with you who support and pray for us. Our children once said that the answer to most of our questions is “Jesus!” He is why we keep working in the Philippines and in the US to multiply workers. Listening and following sometimes means new responsibilities and more flexibility. With surrender comes great joy, and greater potential. May you sense our joy in serving!

Thanks for praying with us. Only by prayer will we see needs met and lasting fruit.

Blessings, David & Joy
