Marriage Milestones

On June 21, we reached the 40th year of God’s faithfulness to us in our marriage. Thank you to all of you who sent secret greeting cards to our children so they could give us 40 cards on our anniversary! Forty years seemed like a pretty big deal, until we celebrated Joy’s parents’ 65th anniversary on July 5!

Family Milestones

We have two new family updates to share. Our daughter, Ruth and husband Nathanael are expecting their second baby, our seventh grandchild in mid-December. Also, we are celebrating a new birth in God’s family, as Nathan (the son of our daughter Rebekah and husband, Gunner) trusted Christ as his Savior. We praise God for another living stone added to the forever home Christ is building for God to live in with us.

Camp Milestones and Living Stones

Evangelism camp was an adventure. We were able to use the first floor of the camp dormitory for the girls and the church sanctuary for the boys to sleep. We used rolls of styrofoam ceiling insulation as improvised sleeping mats until proper beds can be made. Christ is building up His Church with living stones as teens are transformed by the gospel during this time of spiritual challenge.

After camp, we reached a milestone in the camp construction, as we began building the second floor of the dormitory. Please pray for the funds needed to furnish the dormitory when construction is complete. We want campers to sleep in real bunk beds next year!

Church Planting Living Stones

Church planters are living stones, but they are not immune to physical sickness. Two of our CPI workers (Abel and Norving) had strokes in the last month. We praise God for preserving their lives. This reminds us how dependent we are on God’s faithfulness to care for every worker, and for His power to reach each new milestone for Christ. Thank you for your support and prayers through each milestone, so we can train these living stones to build up the Church of Jesus Christ.

Praise:

• Praise the Lord for His faithfulness to us for 40 years of marriage!
• Praise the Lord for our grandson, Nathan, trusting Christ as his Savior.
• Praise God for lives changed and challenged at Christ Connection Camp in May.
• Praise God for grace to care for Joy’s mother with cancer. Her parents celebrated their 65th anniversary together!

Prayer:

• Please pray for God’s provision to finish and furnish the dormitory before camp next summer.
• Pray for God’s healing for Abel and Norving, two church planters who had strokes.
• Pray for God’s protection and blessing for all of the church planters and pastors we train in the Church Planting Institute.
• Please continue to pray for Joy’s Mom, Pauline Sutton, struggling with cancer, and for our family as we care for her.
