Youth Camp and Church Planting

Our mission is to train church planters. Why then, are we building Christ Connection Camp?

Camp is a Training Ground

Every church planter we are training is also helping to start or grow a church. At camp, each worker develops skills in evangelism, discipleship, ministry team dynamics, and servant leadership. This experience prepares him for starting and leading a church.

Camp is Common Ground

Camp provides a common ground for church planters from different areas to serve with each other. At camp, established churches share their resources with new churches. They share experienced leaders, trained musicians and mature believers, who help as camp counselors.

Camp is Fertile Ground

When youth are at camp, away from distractions, their hearts are fertile ground for the Holy Spirit to lead them to Christ. It was at a youth camp that I (David) trusted Christ as my Savior. At another youth camp, I surrendered my life to God’s call to be a missionary. Our coworker, Pastor Diawa says that, “Youth camp is our best method to win children and youth” to faith in Christ. New believers then grow in faith in the churches being formed. We have seen how youth soon become families that are the foundation of growing churches.

Campers are open to trusting Christ as Savior

Camp is Still Construction Ground

God has already provided so much: land, church/meeting hall, dining hall, dormitory (almost finished), and a basketball court. We thought we had enough funds to finish the dorm, and then the conflict in the Persian Gulf sent prices of materials soaring. We still need to finish the dormitory and furnish it (with beds and fans), build a bathroom/shower building, put a roof over the basketball court, and as a hallelujah goal, a swimming pool!

The camp dorm still needs beds

Even unfinished, this camp facility is much better than the “mud camp” we had in former years! This year, we had nearly 300 youth from 17 churches at camp. Camp exists to help us train workers to start churches. Thank you for helping us train church planters by your faithful prayers. To you who have also supported us financially, or given to this camp project, thank you! Your investment in church planter training is bearing fruit.

Praise:

  • Praise God for providing camp land, meeting hall, dining hall, basketball court and (almost finished) dormitory.
  • Praise God for church planters trained at camp in evangelism, discipleship and leadership
  • Praise God for youth with open hearts at camp to respond to the message of Christ.

Prayer:

  • Please pray for funds to finish and furnish the dorm (beds, fans, etc), bathroom/shower building, basketball
    court roof, and swimming pool
  • Please pray that youth who trusted Christ as Savior at camp will grow in faith and obedience to Christ.
  • Please pray for God to provide our personal ministry funds.
